leave the gun, take the cannoli!

so i’m done with subject registration. i was initially a little flustered because i was kind of late in logging into the system. but i managed to snag COM206 as a core, thank god. god knows i need the 4 AUs. it seriously is a pity i wouldn’t be able to take any Linguistics courses coming semester thanks to the schedule clash. so i guess UE registration on the 6th isn’t really relevant to me. i desperately need to clear two GER-PEs so i’m hoping i get the Business Finance and Media in China course i placed myself on the wait-list for. i was lamenting to Gen about the calumny of not being able to take Linguistics modules this sem. she commiserated since Intercultural and Bilingualism also clash with her cores. but at least she can take HG102. T_T

i didn’t manage to research on the local press system. truth be told, i know nothing about it. nor can i ever remember who writes what column. i only hope i ain’t going to be a liability in tomorrow morning’s meeting to say the least. note to self to double check meet up location!

the Korean drama, Coffee Prince, seems to have an amazing soundtrack, if it includes music by Cloud Cuckoo Land and Humming Urban Stereo. talked to Mint about electropop this afternoon after receiving an ad flyer from The Esplanade about their Electrolab event from 13-15 December which i really want to go, but don’t know who to get for company. on a look out for fellow electropop junkies! i also tracked down this (godlike!) LiveJournal community from long ago which i used to frequent. it uploads absolutely wonderful and rare indies music, through which i got exposed to bands and genres like synthpop, which is just pure love. dream pop is another genre that i adore: Cocteau Twins!

i’m currently fiddling with my iTunes. my Dad passed me a brand-new metallic green iPod Shuffle (from the previous second generation) and i intend to fill it with laid-back music or something. i’m renaming my iPods to: Jack of Clubs, Queen of Hearts, King of Diamonds and Ace of Spades. lol, guess i’ve always been a stickler for peculiarities and patterns. xD

i saw a girl clipping a bright pink second generation iPod Shuffle on the bodice of her white dress once, and i thought it looked quite stunning. the orange and blue ones are very pretty too.

the new generation of iPod Shuffle has a new range of psuedo-blended colors that are really lovely on a closer look – silver, red, lavender, turquoise, mint green. i dismissed them originally, but right now, looking at them at the Apple site, i’m enamored! and they come with free laser engraving (at least from the US site).

anyway, speaking of laid-back music. on Sunday, after brunch with my family, Dad took us on a little drive just around via the highways. on the way, i was just listening to some chill-out music, and it felt so good. like feeling the wind in your hair and such imagery popping in my mind. another motivation for me to pursue my driving lessons pronto! haha.

i’m probably going to end up creating a play list for music on a road trip or something. sometimes i wish i live in the States, where i can just take off in a convertible with its top down and just drive and end up where ever, randomly and come what may. unknown bustling cities, quaint small towns and the sprawling beautiful countryside.

updating my Facebook on the books i’m currently reading! the keeping track is an obsession with fanatically-organized list-making me. mwahaha, one trip to the library today and i returned triumphant with, uh, more romance novels. some contemporary, some historical romances. and more interestingly, exploring new authors like Madeline Hunter and Mary Balogh. also borrowed some old ones i’ve read before for comfort’s sake. like one of my beloved Jane Feather novels – The Accidental Bride, incidentally, also my favorite out of the ‘Brides’ trilogy.

speaking of books (and i’m all a-flutter! xD). Citibank is being generous and giving away books this holiday season! they sent a book list to choose from to my Dad who’s giving me the choice, yay! i’m torn between Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns. or Kim Edwards’ The Memory Keeper’s Daughter or The Secrets of a Fire King. or William Boyd’s Any Human Heart. or 1000 Places To See Before You Die, which i flipped through at Harris before and thought it was interesting. or even a business or humanities text like The Black Swan. Victoria Beckham’s book is also on the list under ‘Lifestyle’. snorts.

my intake of edible junk today is nerve-wrecking and thank god not in scary quantity (a pinch here and there) – Monserrat chocolate, roti prawn, chips, prawn crackers, dim sum! lol, at least to balance it out, i had fruit – bananas, oranges, apples and grapes. uh. xD

lol, okay. back to updating my iPods i go go go. leave the gun, take the cannoli. :D
