i can taste the air

many things transpired over this long weekend, including today, a public holiday thanks to it being Vesak Day. though i can’t really remember what i did on Friday, to my some horror. o_O honestly, i may have probably totally did something very cool. so much that i can’t remember it. x)

but i do recall meeting up with my cousin, JL, for dinner at the mall as we scheduled earlier in the week. on Kazzie’s and my way there, we bumped into my aunt’s family, most of whom just recently returned from Taiwan (which i hear once again, is a fantamazing place to go). so we ended up as a dinner crowd of eight, including Old Xuan’s boyfriend. (:

we hung out a bit after. i gave in and bought my Susan Elisabeth Philips paperback, Natural Born Charmer! lol, i actually had planned to go check out Kinokuniya (which was having a 20% storewide sale from the 16th-18th) with Nates on Sunday for the book. but i was paranoid that they wouldn’t have it in stock. because it really wasn’t in stock a few days back when i dropped by Kinokuniya. and i thought during sale period, it’d probably be even less available. so i settled for a 10% discount from Popular instead.

we wanted to go for Cafe Cartel cake! unfortunately it was a Friday evening, and really crowded. plus, i didn’t really fancy most of the cakes they had left e.g. tiramisu/mango mousse. (: so we went for ice-cream instead.

Saturday, 17th May was Dance Parade day in New York! (: it was also a day of conflict for me. because it was the day of the Singapore Freeze flashmob event planned on Facebook which i really wanted to go participate in, hur hur. unfortunately, it was also our regular car wash day of the week to continue to raise funds for the camp. so i prioritized and went for the car wash. James and i met up in the morning to make our way to ECP. the labour turnout that day wasn’t fantastic. only about 10 of us were there, including 3 subcommers, which means only about half the main committee showed up. backbreaking hard work like always.

Sunday, i ironically looked forward to in comparison. i met up for early breakfast with my grandma at a coffee shop near her old place (yay pork porridge). after that, we went to help my uncle move house to his new apartment several blocks away and closer to my family. that took me a couple of hours, before i walked home to change to go out.

i had a good time hanging out with Nates in the afternoon. (: we had lunch at Yoshinoya (yay beef bowl). thank god for the coupons i got in the exam welfare package last semester! since there’s no student meal offer on weekends! xD;

we went to HMV so Nates could get her Vivaldi and Seiji Ozawa CDs. i listened to a couple of albums there. i thought the sound of Fall Out Boy’s Live in Phoenix album was decent. … after HMV, we went to Paragon to check out the La Senza sale. though i wounded up buying a grey skirt and a blue top from Miss Selfridge before that. (: yay-ness. i really wanted this cream cardigan too. but Nates told me i’d probably expire from tiredness doing up all those many little buttons up the front. La Senza has cute sleeping boxers, and lovely camisole tops that are seriously too pretty to wear to sleep. … unless you know, you’re wearing it for your lover or something. xD;

there was this parade of drummers marching up and down the streets that day. eardrum-bursting noise. ): booo. we went to Women’s Secret to check out their basic bras, which i felt didn’t have good support and were kind of expensive. but i want my strapless bra already! >:

Kinokuniya next for Nates to get her magazines. and she couldn’t stop me in time from darting past shelves to see if that SEP paperback i wanted was on the racks. … sian ji bua, it was there!! ¬¬ lol, whatever. i comforted myself with the thought that buying the book earlier allowed me to re-read parts of it earlier as well on Friday night. NYAHAHA. ahem. (:

Haato yuzu sorbet gelato from Wheelock Place! swoons. lol, my regular fix. while Nates had to have her Starbucks mocha (or was it latte?). so while we were sitting outside the cafe, a whole bunch of guys decked out weirdly from running attire to suits to latex to just regular guy wear, marched past with placards and yelling some garbled slogan about wanting to participate in the running event, Orchard Mile, too. zomgbbq? the first thing that popped into my mind and which i asked Nates dryly: “… do you think they have a permit?” (law by law society that we live in). i doubt it was a publicity stunt, because it’d be in poor taste if so. omg. o_O it was a publicity stunt. unfortunately, they also really didn’t have a permit. FAIL. lol, a foreigner behind us commented to his friends something like ‘nothing like a protest to liven up the day’. xD;

we intended to walk to FEP so i can check out my boxers, but it was a bloody warm day, so we went to Burger King to get my onion rings, and we walked back to Topshop instead. sale! (: mwahaha. i wanted to get these gold dangly earrings for like $9, but i felt guilty because of my Miss Selfridge buys already. and i’ve managed to further narrow down my wanted list to a few (probably) must-buys. (: including this jacket from Cotton On, which i don’t know whether to get in grey/black.

then it was home! to pack and pick up my stuff because of the sleepover at Aur’s place. it started off great, because Simpang is pure happiness and glutton’s heaven. why it pwns Jalan Kayu and other prata houses, is really because you can get more than just your usual Indian food there. we shared chicken murtabak, wings, mushroom chicken (i.e. a lot of chicken), sambal kang kong (l-o-v-e), fries and stuff. but Jalan Kayu iced milo still wins. (:

as typical sleepovers go, we didn’t fall asleep until close to dawn this morning, and it was a very restless sleep for me in general. and since i’ve always been an early bird, i climbed up and left Aur’s place at 9am to make it back home by 10am. bought back and had breakfast with my Mom. i wanted to get her Bedok chwee kueh, unfortunately the hawker center was a little out of the way for me. >:

i rushed a little bit in the morning, because i made plans with my grandmother to take my younger cousins out today for an outing! while their parents continue unpacking in their new house. we met up at 11am and went for an outing! (: we went to Pasir Ris for lunch (yay spring chicken rice and ham & cheese takoyaki) before traveling back to my grandma’s place. tired out by then. lol, it’s so hard trying to keep up with the energy levels of kids. O_o

a must-see NYT semi-photo article. an article about Brooke Smith (Dr Erica Hahn in Grey’s Anatomy). i love that someone did a really thorough recap for episode 4.15 which just aired, and which i shall go download ASAP. and zomg, Patrick Dempsey dropped major spoiler hints recently. o_O!

(: American Idol finale this coming Wednesday night! must not forget! (: except i don’t really care which David wins after they battle it out. while i do think it’s long overdue that a rocker-type won; Archuleta has a brilliant voice.
it seems like Prince Caspian did well in the box office over the weekend. … so maybe it’s more worth watching than other summer blockbusters so far and slated for release? going to watch Accuracy of Death with Kazzie next Tuesday since she’ll be on her June vacation next week on. (: maybe JL would like to come along if she doesn’t have special sem classes. yay.

i just recently checked out Catwalkclose seriously, but i like all the kimono and tube dresses they’ve brought in so far: relatively unique prints and colors. no wonder they’re snapped up so quickly. this collection also has this grey off shoulder tee dress which i like! i like the layout of MSF’s latest update and the white eyelet dress is sweet. (: the blue Berlyn Check dress Epollyanna is selling looks great to me. i’m just not sure if i can pull off those kind of sleeves. i love Morning Bloom and Eyelet Rouge from LollyRouge! pity i don’t fare well with tube dresses. mournful. :3

anyway, i have photos of my days which i’m a tad lethargic to bother uploading on Facebook right now. i keep receiving friend requests from strange guys lately, including one very persistent dude whose request i’ve ignored for several times.

shall probably go clear my emails now and continue peeking at whatever new shopping journal collections i’ve missed out on over the weekend. hur hur! i think i want to kope Kazzie’s lit text and read Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night soon too. (:

Stereophonics – ‘Local Boy In The Photograph’

There’s no mistake, I smell that smell,
It’s that time of year again, I can taste the air.
The clocks go back, railway track,
Something blocks the line again.
And the train runs late for the first time.

He’ll always be 23, yet the train runs on and on,
Past the place they found his clothing.
