stand still, breathe in
my MacBook took its time to load from the start-up screen today. freaked me out a little, i’d admit. o_O
omg, it’s been stifling hot lately. insanely humid. and air-conditioning seems more of necessity than a luxury. i’ve been taking cold showers, but they only provide temporary relief.
this morning, i had to go back to school. i willingly signed up for the job, but dragging myself out of bed at 6am was when i couldn’t help but curse myself out still. still, traveling wasn’t too bad today. i also couldn’t help feeling the relief that my exams are done, when i saw people doing last minute mugging on the bus ride.
today’s round of ‘A’ Level applicants interviews was a greatly reduced version of the Saturday a couple of weeks back. there were only 50-over candidates, and two interview timing slots. we were slightly under-staffed at moments, with only 5 of us student helpers, especially during the marking of scripts and running. but the before/after wasn’t so bad. got to mingle more with the candidates this time around too.
we got free brunch! haha, which is so typical of the school. we always have great buffets. today’s spread wasn’t as large as the previous time either obviously, but the noodles, sandwiches, chickens and cakes/kueh went down okay. xD
caught a short part of JY and the others’ participating video for The 48 Hour Film Project: Singapore (which they filmed over the weekend) when they screened it in the LT to a small audience (us, and a couple of seniors). it was pretty cool, but the lighting a little too dark in some shots. (:
knocked off a little after 12pm and traveled out of campus with Siti. i was pretty knocked out by the time i got home. it was the weather and the too-early morning, honestly. i ate two oranges, took a quick shower and mustered enough energy to drag myself out to the library though. and rooted around the shelves enough to snag myself some romance novels, including one by Sandra Brown which i’ve surprisingly never read before. i didn’t quite get the plot from the back cover, so i never picked it up before.
speaking of romance novels. i think i’ve pretty much run out of those to read at the library close to my place. there’re a few authors i don’t feel very inclined to read and i’ve extinguished the supply of those i like. which is why i am feeling extremely motivated to read books of a different calibre from now on. and actually start a book list.
i remember a few years back when i used to hang around LiveJournal, there were always those book lists where users are supposed to add a book to an ever-growing list of books that are worth a read/absolutely wonderful. and i’ve thought those a brilliant way to get started. unfortunately, i doubt i ever saved a copy of them.
still, i have seen several interesting ones in the library i want to check out. and i’m not only talking about novels/fiction. i’d like to read across a whole spectrum of my interests e.g. design (graphic/fashion/cartoons/ads), linguistics and even my current field of study. lol, hobby books are so fun. i see these really fun titles like knitting and DIY jewelry. but i think i can safely give cook/recipe books a miss. xD
and hanging around the library to read those books is quite appealing in terms of the free air-conditioning which is an escape. plus, many of the books are heavy hardbacks. and it’s backbreaking to lug those home, much less several of them.
after my trip to the library, i treated myself to a hot fudge sundae before trudging home. once i collapsed on the sofa, i dozed and drowsed while attempting to read for a couple of hours. watched a bit of Ellen. dinner time came around in a bit. had the grilled Cajun chicken on rice at Long John Silver’s with Kazzie. i love that one. (: i also like their Fish Treasure Meal which i tried once.
i originally intended to change and go out to town after my shower to go get Haato yuzu sorbet to combat the impending summer heat. but of course that just sounds like too much work.
what i love in this BonitoChico’s update: Glam Rock Tube Dress, Chiffon Star Style (love the colors), Futuristic Chic (maybe just the neckline), and the (obviously) Kimono-Inspired Frock. (: and the Pink Splash Art Tunic is gorgeous. i like the Kathleen Bohemian Dress and Louisa Checkered Dress here too. thank god they’re all pending/sold. xD
check out this lady’s amazingly cool stole made out of felt hats! that’s so original.
anyway, it seems like there is a FOC meeting tomorrow back in school at 11am. i had planned something on tomorrow. but i guess i’d have to postpone it. honestly, i’m kind of galled that no one confirmed with me if it was on and where it’s going to be. so not looking forward to traveling back to school yet again tomorrow. what the. i forgot to pick up the paper today though. so maybe i’d remember tomorrow instead.
i’m so tired from running around lately. all i want to do is just spend a quiet day at home. but the rest of this week and then next week seems to be packed with things to do. deadlines, obligations and just stuff.
Skye - ‘Love Show’
stand still, breathe in.
are you listening?you don’t know.
somebody’s aching, keeping it all in.
somebody won’t let go, of his heart, but the truth is, it’s painless letting your love show.
