i don’t wanna wonder whether you care
25th April was the Day of Silence. … and this is a supremely interesting article in the New York Times Magazine about young gay marriages published today. so read it. slight warning though: it’s not short. (:
i feel like watching Season 4 of Grey’s Anatomy because i’m bored with CSI already. plus my DVDs for CSI Season 4 have no English subs which annoys me. but like i tell Thu, i’m not a big fan of watching videos on my computer. and all my GA S4 episodes are downloaded. i find it so painful to watch anime/movies/dramas on YouTube or whatever. it has to be the television for me. (: lol, plus, i love the remote control. couch potato syndrome.
the sneak peeks/promos for GA episode 13 next week seem exciting. Addison’s back! lol, i miss her! i hope Private Practice does well. i want to watch, which means i’ve to download and i’m lazy. xD
turns out yesterday’s car wash was canceled due to dismal attendance. looks like i’m down for tomorrow morning’s student job back in school. helping out with ‘A’ Level applicant interviews again. so i’d probably pick up our Info Lit paper too if none of my group mates have already. o_O … our lecturer also emailed us our grade for our Media in China paper: we got an A-. zomgwtfbbq. we’re kicking our own assess for S/Uing the module now. lol, but truth be told, we couldn’t have known.
went out for lunch with Nates and Choco at Wheelock Place. we made plans way back before my exams, so i couldn’t cancel on them. i missed the oven-baked rice at NYDC, but i must say all three of us were quite disappointed with the food in the end. Nates had spaghetti with grilled veges and sausages, Choco the baked pasta (meatballs!) and i had baked rice (mushrooms!). but it was quite tasteless, and the chili flakes which i usually use extremely liberally barely made a difference this time. not spicy enough. … i figured the kitchen was in quite a bit of confusion when i went to pay at the counter (no one came to pick up our bill). and the service was mediocre. none of the serving crew were really paying attention to the customers, and it was so hard to get someone to take our orders.
still, i cheered up considerably after having my Haato yuzu sorbet. (: lol. we took photos to show the difference between a single/double scoop cups. Choco had the chocolate banana which was nice, but kind of too sweet for me.
oh, bumped into Justin while i was at Wheelock. i also went to browse Borders. the Paperchase section is selling all kinds of stuff for Mother’s Day. and not to forget the romance novels section. zomg, Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Natural Born Charmer is finally out on paperback (excited excited)! and Borders has Honey Moon! except the copy looked quite battered, so i didn’t get it. ):
we wandered over to Wisma Atria since Nates had to fix her phone at the Sony place. and went shopping! lol, zomg. how many times have i trawled that area in a week? i saw this really colorful plaid skirt from Topshop on 20% off (but still like $60) which i really like. and a sweet strips/dots top (its print is an example is what i’ve recently been drawn to alot lately). and summer is the time for colors! (:
the red dress i like from F21 was still on the racks. but i still couldn’t bring myself to fork out $30+ for it. lolwtfright. this photo doesn’t do it justice, honestly. (: there were a couple other pretty tops i liked, like this lovely cream sweater with a shimmer finish. me love the sleeves. what i did end up buying, was a long sleeve half-cardigan from Cotton On on sale at $15. one thing that makes me sad though, is that its wooly inner lining sheds.
we mostly went to the same stores i’ve hit these few days like Wh (which has nice guy tees from $9-23). but yesterday, Nates wanted to go to Zara which i usually avoid because it always struck me as super expensive. it was really crowded, but i was surprised that there was this particular section which sold slightly more affordable merchandise. there was this awesome red cardigan at $35. i wound up getting another half cardigan of the same material at $19.90. steal! xD … they had like t-shirts going at $17 too. it was crazy.
i’m in a cardigan-shopping mood lately. i’ve been wearing the same few ones over this semester to battle cold lecture halls, so it’s time for a change! there’s this really pretty rose pink one i saw at $25 the other day. and not to forget the red Esprit one on sale at $40 which i still covet.
we also popped by Kinokuniya so Choco can go look for her Reborn manga. i went to surreptitiously compare prices for the paperback i wanted. it’s about the same price, but i have a $5 Kinokuniya voucher from Mom. and Nates wields her member’s discount. she is advising me to wait until June though where the typical 20% sale season would be on. … ran into Ariffin at the bookstore! we chatted a little bit. (:
and Kinokuniya has more Morning Glory notebooks with gorgeous covers. i love those for class because they’re thin and thus not heavy to carry around. and they’re only $1.30 each! i use them for lectures notes. but next semester on, i was thinking of taking down notes with my MacBook instead, because it’s faster.
dinner with Dad at AMK last night. pork cutlet hor fun! swoons. lol, i have discovered that the pork cutlet pwns the chicken cutlet. it’s quite value for money because it’s such a huge serving at $3.50. plus, lots of meat (not enough vegetables though). and the cutlet is just crispy/crunchy enough. somehow even in the gravy, it doesn’t end up all soggy.
i fell asleep early last night at 9:30pm. the aftermath of sleeping at 2am for the past two nights and waking up at 7:30am. but this morning, i woke up at 6:30am, precisely because i slept early last night. i can never seem to wake up late even though i’m completely exhausted and need the rest. my limit is 9 or 10 hours at a go so sometimes i envy those who can knock themselves out like 24 hours.
i finished my Sandra Brown novel (another one; i’ve been re-reading her books) and played Naruto/Mariokart on my DS Lite for a bit. before breakfast at Jalan Kayu! <3 yay, prata. lol, also noted the public transport to get there because Jin and i have plans to check out prata houses with (hopefully) Jinhe, Jiamin, Moon and whoever else wants to come. xD
finally, no blog post shall go by without a mention of kimono dresses! (: i like Tropicana Sun in that post. and i’ve always thought the smaller sizing is nicer. compared to the larger size with the keyhole design below the bust front/back i.e. Misty.
