broke my iPod and possibly my ankle
i can’t believe Carly was eliminated tonight. she has gorgeous vocals and such an amazing strong voice. i was really aghast that Syesha and Carly were in the bottom two after their good performances last night for Andrew Lloyd Webber week. honestly, i personally felt they had the more energetic performances that night; everyone else floundered. even David Cook was mediocre (to me), hitting only a couple of good notes at the end (i cringed like mad throughout actually). and Jason Castro was a disaster. even understanding how people vote (loyalty, “charm (i.e. Jason)”, “more human (i.e. Brooke)”) doesn’t make me feel less irate that American Idol is really not so big about talent after all. makes me all the more less inclined to watch it now on, along with the rest of the declining viewership. i don’t particularly enjoy the over-hyping of indie music. but if what mainstream music is hawking is barely talent, then what kind of music are we talking about?
and bad luck plagued my day which started off fine. it was rainy and cold in the morning, but i liked how it cooled the air after so many days of humid heat. said bad luck manifested first in the form of my currently defunct iPod. it refused to restart properly again after dying on me on the train ride.
bumped into Zijie on my way to school, and later Jin at the exam hall. this translation paper (my last exam this semester), to be honest, i didn’t much prepare for, because there just didn’t seem to be much to study for. i read through the old notes, but that’s about it. i thought us being given 2.5 hours for the entire paper was a ludicrous notion, and planned to leave after 1.5 hours at most.
i was totally wrong. the paper was tougher than i’d hoped. what annoyed me was the reuse of old practice questions in the exam. is that allowed? damn, i’d have memorized the bloody model answers if i’d known. well, i kind of suspected the lecturer tends to do that after the midterm quiz, but i figured he wouldn’t do that for the exam! … man, was i wrong. i not only took the entire 2.5 hours duration (why the bloody hell was the Chinese-English passage so freaking long?), i nearly couldn’t finish on time. i wish i had more minutes to perfect my last English-Chinese passage.
so to my surprise, i couldn’t leave early. and apparently neither did Jin for his Korean. however, my Dad called me a few times just after my paper, and told me he was already on campus. which was weird, because we’d made separate plans for the evening earlier, and i didn’t know he’d come pick me up. so in the end i had to pang-seh Jin about going back together. sorry again, mate.
went to visit my grandparents. had a great dinner - sambal kang kong and spicy clay pot chicken. yay, love. everything was fine and dandy until i freaking sprained my ankle while walking to the car. it is now sending shards of pain through my leg whenever i try to shuffle anywhere, and it’s swelling. damn! i hope it’s not going to persist beyond tonight.
lunch plans with Zijie, Cheryl and Thu tomorrow! think we’re checking out that Japanese restaurant at City Hall that kind of reminds me of Waraku actually. anyway, i wanted to run some errands beforehand (and maybe do a little bit of shopping). my leg had better not be indisposed tomorrow. glares at it. the thing that pisses me off the most is my broken iPod though. i want to send it in right away for repair damn it! SDGkjslasja;lkdal;l;kd;alsjsjsJfjls! >:
omg, i really like Artsy in this post! it reminds me of what the girl in picture four is wearing. and yes, dresses are the way to go, as i’ve recently discovered. xD; … not that i’ve actually worn one out either so far and i hesitate to start collecting manically. they’re so pretty, but i’m more of the sloppy comfort type most of the time. more kimono dresses (obsesses obsesses)! thankfully, not prints that i particularly like. though i think the floral kimono frock here has potential. i like the grey one.
and could men be really into clashy these days? snorts, well i hardly think just about anyone could pull it off.
Grey’s Anatomy returns tonight! and so here’s something about Patrick Dempsey and something about Pop artist, Jeff Koons and his sculptures at the Met’s Cantor Roof Garden. (:
and it was Earth Day a couple of days ago. and there’re some weird articles popping up, including stuff like whether Disney movies help drive environmentalism.
currently on Facebook (i need to reply wall posts) and reading some flabbergasting news about Gackt going to be in a Hollywood movie titled “Bunraku” slated to come out in 2009, starring possibly Demi Moore. he’s apparently going to be a samurai named Yoshi. … xDDD
shall go read FamSpam in a bit and check out what Toy Convention thing Aur is talking about, hur hur. hit me up with mega plans. … gosh, i barely made a dent in my unread emails (an unholy amount accumulated after only three days) after major deleting. maybe tomorrow morning. a shower, a Sandra Brown novel (if i can keep my eyes open), and then sleep, await (in that order). as my Dad says, the weather is perfect for crawling beneath the sheets (with a book or otherwise).
