habits die hard when you got a sentimental heart
Mint: good luck for your exams too! (: and yes! cake and congee and dim sum! can’t wait for you to get back. i’ll be there on the 9th with Aur. want us to hold up big embarrassing placards with your name in bold neon clashy colors? (:
Aur: *psychoes* Little India Little India (see below). and Sakae Teppanyaki when mushroom comes back. then maybe we can throw her in the pan and fry her too. MWAHAHA. >)
the worst is (nearly) over. i have one last translation paper left on the 24th, and i’m home free. (: lol, i was already in a semi-celebratory mood on the 18th, after the 204 paper (despite my screwing up of the second half of the paper because i can’t do impromptu print media writing). went shopping after lunch with Jinhe, Jin, Jess and Zijie at the new open-air 24/7 food court at JP. bought a few tops to cheer me up, like this mauve one with understated silver studs. lol, retail therapy is love. (also saw this Caucasian guy who looked like Matt Damon on my train ride home. hot. sexy voice. xDDD!)
great plans for the next upcoming weeks. facial coming Monday afternoon at Raffles City. think i’ll drop by PS before that to finish off the last of my Times bookstore vouchers, and maybe shop around at Cotton On and check out those basic v-neck guy tees.
then 22nd and 23rd will probably be devoted to any revision for my translation paper. sorry to Jin, lunch plans for 24th no can do. i can’t eat before papers because i don’t want all the adrenaline pumping blood to my stomach and not my brain. but hopefully i have some company traveling home (if we’re done with our papers about the same time in the evening). AND PRATA HOUSES SOON, ZOMG. xD
lunch at the newly renovated food court at Bugis Junction with Aur yesterday. then Italian coffee and lemon gelato for me, mwahaha. so much for the healthy choice of beef noodles in soup for lunch. i bought this black bead necklace and brown/blue bangles from Diva. really nice. i wish i bought the ones i saw at Accessorize a few months back before they sold out. ):
post-lunch, we walked to Parkview Square so Aur can show me all the magnificent statues around the courtyard. lol. then we went to Haji Lane and checked out all the hyped up boutiques and everything. it was lots of expensive vintage stuff (cute bags, cool shades, interesting clothes and accessories), but after a while, there ceased to be many great surprises. i succumbed to buying a purple dual-layered dress-top and a long (hem at the knees) maroon floral print dress at MONO+MACHINE because it was having a buy-one-get-one free offer.
i originally bought the dress for myself. with secret hopes of wearing something i’ve never worn before without looking like too much of a frump. but then to be honest, the cut isn’t flattering for me. so i was somewhat seriously telling Aur that i’ll probably offload it to someone. coincidentally, it’s my Mom’s birthday coming Monday, and she was hinting to me about getting her a dress. but i was originally thinking of getting her something more modern and straight cut, like a tunic dress.
when i got home, i showed her the dress i got from Haji Lane, and asked if she could pull it off better than i could (since she always wears dresses that length). thank god she likes it and she looks really good in it. lol, semi-aggravation right now because slim people almost always can pull off anything. she said she’ll wear it for one of her many upcoming dinners and stuff, yay. it’s unbelievably hard to shop for a birthday gift for anyone, much less my Mom. because she doesn’t need anything she can’t get for herself. i lol-ed at some of the birthday gifts her friends have been getting her. the one i liked best was a bouquet of absolutely gorgeous peach pink roses with lavender and baby breath; together with Crabtree & Evelyn rose-water powder which smelled so lovely. romantique. <3 and my Mom told me she actually really love flowers. o_O
i was intending to scour more today if the dress wasn’t good enough (which i will totally sell for its original price since i truthfully can’t wear it), but i have been saved. (: her birthday dinner is tonight. yay, mommy.
anyway, Haji Lane is somewhat pricey, but cheap bargains can be found in the musty atmosphere of the House of Japan with racks of $10-25 dresses. lol, Aur couldn’t breathe and had to sit out, and i got tired of rooting through lines of long print dresses (omg why no shorter ones?) after a bit. then she went to check out this store selling yukatas! zomglol, and this time i was the one who refused to enter the shop. the dust and all were overwhelming.
we went to check out Arab Street for my long satin scarves, and wandered around a maze of quaint little streets with touristy shops. didn’t find what i was looking for though. but we should totally go to Little India one day so i can go find those bangles i want. except Aur vehemently declined to go, so. xD … but who knows? maybe she’ll change her mind, like about Taiwan! omg i told you it’s a good idea. if we ever get another chance, we could consider it la. then you can try the smelly tofu while i sit far far away. (:
i can’t believe we had dessert twice. we walked to Ice Monster (which has a shop at PS too) and ate chhoah-peng (剉冰). i love the mango fruit and sorbet one, but i was so filled after that, i could barely eat dinner after.
went to visit my grandparents last night. at one point, i was trying out Nintendogs on my DS Lite and zomg, it’s so painfully patience-taxing. despite finally deciding on a male Siberian husky which has a ’serene personality’, i didn’t realize that was codeword for slow or something. it took me forever to teach him his name (smirks). and then he forgot. jakshJKAAasal;djaFAIL?! O_o
yesterday was Record Store Day (could be your typical marketing ploy)! and just a few days back, was Poem in Your Pocket Day hosted in NYC. lol, nice. we only seem to have walkathons here. why not Eat Your Heart Out Day? Or Shop Till You Drop Day (oh wait we do have that i.e. the marathon called Great Singapore Sale). (:
deciding what to do with the rest of my day after brunch. watch season 3 of CSI or upload photos e.g. our 206 video production stills!
