bits of happiness every day!

reading Washington Post’s ‘A Christmas Column’. and this article about how loved ones communicate with each other in wartime makes me kind of sad. i’m a little cheered by this amusing video about Facebook though. xD

i was quite worn out by yesterday – packing of goodie bags day! it started with morning shopping for supplies, and then travelling all the way back to campus to do the packing at Cheryl’s hall, which is to me totally like the Great Wall of China; perched on the hill as it is. her room was unfortunately at Level 5, and it was a (mostly) huffing and puffing parade of people who finally reached the top with their big white plastic bags of snacks. the labour turnout was quite good, though there were some comings and goings. especially grateful to the two subcommers who made the effort to show up – Kyle & Jin! haha, it was backbreaking monotonous work, like a factory’s production line. not helped much by the radio and the sing along channel we chose or the resurfacing of the guys’ Spice Girls fanboying. the lame jokes did make some difference though. xD

i was totally worn out by the time i got home. and i actually went to bed two hours earlier than usual – at midnight! but when i jerked awake this morning at 8:30am thanks to the cold, i wasn’t feeling any more rested than before.

talked to Nates on the phone last night. <3 met up with her and Choco today for lunch at The Central’s Waraku Pasta! (zomgClarkeQuayagain!). i have to say i don’t quite comprehend their queue system. when we reached, we were told we’re first in the queue for the next table since it was full house at that moment. we were then given a number on paper and told to go browse around and then come back. … but when? the person at the counter didn’t take down our name or numbers, so how am i supposed to know when a table would be free for us? so we decided to sit down and check out the menu to decide what we wanted (which might have been the more sensible thing to offer for us to do) instead.

at least the waiting time wasn’t long. for a PH lunch hour, at least. we couldn’t quite decide what we wanted! i tried the fettucine with hamburg steak this time. it was decently tasty, and super filling. maybe i should have gone for the mushroom omelet with demi-glace sauce instead. Nates had the curry pork cutlet pasta while Choco had the prawn & cod roe gratin. i also like their garlic bread; like the NYDC ‘cookie’ ones. Choco ordered a tiramisu parfait afterward which i sneaked a bite of, and it tasted smooth and cool. lol, the three of us stumbled out of the restaurant satisfied and sleepy. i tried the custard wassant at Petit Provence bakery earlier on too! i adore it much more than the chocolate one, oh yes. (:

after lunch, we made our way to town! we first headed to Harris (still with its paperbacks sale at $8) and i saw this Mary Balogh book of her Simply series. grabby motions. Nates and Choco also had to drag me out before i keep reading quirky titles like The End of the Question Mark.

i went to check out Cotton On; which is as usual, packed to the brim with shoppers. god, Christmas crowds and rainy weather are this month’s peeves. i wanted to go see their range of sleeveless tops and their prices are really inexpensive in comparison to what i’m used to. but the waiting time to get a fitting room was horridly long. i really like this pink spag top! :D … but i’m so broke it makes no difference to what i want. there’s no money to fulfill the desire anyway.

Paragon! i haven’t been there in like forever. i didn’t even know a Fish & Co. opened there. we went to Muji and i was super taken by this pair of tie-up black wedges on sale. but 30% off $63 isn’t exactly cheap. and they didn’t have it in my size. Marks & Spencer is love x 29854269601! their food range is so tempting; but i couldn’t find the sherbet candy Aur bought long time back. and omg, the cookies and chips! flails. xD … i was super taken by this pair of black pointed pumps too. but they were quite expensive and the heels are a tad higher than what i’m used to. but they were moderately comfortable, and they made my legs look long. if only i can get a cheaper alternative that looks as classy! i also tried on brown boots and green suede peep-toe heels, all way beyond my budget though.

ah, i feel envious of Shaun and Mint. Shaun’s jetting off to Tokyo tonight and have tickets to LUNA SEA’s only unbelievable reunion concert on Christmas eve, while Mint is probably already in Cuba, and then to NYC for the New Year. and Nates is talking about studying in Australia. all around me, people are coming home from trips to Taiwan, HK, Bangkok, China, and other beautiful places. i feel so bereft all of a sudden.

i just remember i have to reply Aur’s text! i put off response last night because i was so knocked out. guilt trip. … and my aunt just popped by with candy bars for me and Kazzie! milk chocolate with hazelnut! lol, yay. i feel a kid’s happiness all over again. <3
