stepping into the time machine
[Mint: omg eyeroll. whatever made you think i've had time to spend on my driving lessons. sorry to disappoint. no license, no car. you're better of counting on the public transport system. and library@orchard is closing because the rent for the space has skyrocketed, apparently.
[Aur: i'm pretty busy this December myself with post-exam activities. and as usual, dinner is difficult for me la. we'll have to work something out. and omg i'd hate to retake E2 test! stabs self. btw, what's the passwords for your last couple of protected entries? or is it about X? xDDD]
a random note. i read my blog stats occasionally just to see which posts are garnering the most views; as well as what search terms people used to actually get here. amidst the more normal ones e.g. Matsuyama Ken’ichi, (topic of the week for my blog) lavender purple PSP Slim & Lite (which i blogged about when i got mine); today, i spotted one that says ‘thaddaeus, ntu sci’. why would it lead to my blog, that is the question. O_o eh?!
omg, this is bloody appalling. o_O … and it looks like Singapore’s rap video about the media industry regulation and censorship here isn’tto very well received (of course), but at least people are viewing it? xD
currently blogging and sneaking glances at Black Hawk Down airing on local telly. i watched it a couple of years back. usually i dislike watching violence, gratuitous, pointless or in any excessive form. and war content usually turns me off almost immediately. but somehow i felt compelled to watch it till the end and even cried, zomg. not that i can completely recall what the plot is about, but the theme of ‘nobody gets left behind’ is very well-represented in there.
okay, looks like the FOC main committee meeting will be held on the 27th. i guess i’ll get a chance to talk to JY a little about the subcomm meeting on the 28th. it frustrates me that this Irwin guy is MIA. it’s lunacy to be speculating who he is and his commitment level (if any) at this point. and he didn’t bloody reply my message. it’s nothing personal, but if you signed up, the least you could do is be here. sigh. of course, i can always give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he’s abroad, mugging sans contact to the outside world, or something. :3
i tried vegeterian kway chap this morning. … it tasted surprisingly good. i was so into the soup. or maybe i was just plain ravenous.
so lunch didn’t work out between me and Aur. this entire afternoon was spent sorting out old photos. some dating back a few decades. black and white, natural sepia-tinged with age. it’s the atypical stepping into the time machine. this is all because of last night when my grandmother lugged out this huge dusty black suitcase and threw it open to reveal close to 100 photos albums of various shapes and sizes. she’s been sorting through her stuff to prepare for her moving soon. and she wanted to pass us our pictures, especially those of us grandkids. being the natural optimist (snortsgags) that i am, i volunteered for the task of sorting out photos for the whole extended family and their individual families. of course, i initially dismissed protests and discouraging comments about the success rate for the endeavour. and then as i thought more about it, i started developing my own misgivings at the enormity of the task ahead of me. but i’ve dug my own grave, and there was no way i was going to pull out of my promise to my grandmother. so this afternoon, armed with empty boxes, i determinedly plowed through the photos.
amazingly, i was done, in 4 hours at the most. of course, i was lucky that more than half turned out to be travel photos of my grandparents’ vacations. but a sizable volume of childhood photos and family portraits were salvaged from the chaotic jumble. there appeared to be a lapse of chronological order sometimes, but somehow it all worked out. … lol, it is quite an accomplishment, but i’m exhausted from the effort. xD
to celebrate Christmas, even though it’s one month away, i read an anthology of Christmas (eve) romance stories (The Night Before Christmas) by a bunch of romance novelists like Lori Foster, Kathy Love, Erin McCarthy, etc. sniffs. short stories are really not as good for plot development though some were pretty aww-worthy. lol, and it’s like the characters are fast-forwarding through the usual formula and ending up in bed almost immediately, thanks to latent sexual desire sizzling between them since they first laid eyes on each other or their first kiss in the elevator. i adore office romance stories. xDDD
so at least two hours on Sunday shall be dedicated to household chores since Mom’s on vacation. moans grumbles groans. oh well, cleaning the house isn’t that terrible a deal. i intend to reward myself come Monday with a movie! yay. i adore watching movies alone, so that’s what’s going to happen. i’m going to sit down in some theatre with a box of popcorn for company and watch Enchanted! :D … but i’m praying i wouldn’t be surrounded by kids who tend to indulge in intrusive outbursts of commentary. o_O;
