Tokyo e ikitai!
damn, it’s rather taxing to html while blogging.
last night my laptop battery died just when JX was about to send me photos and videos from the farewell bash we threw for Gary last Saturday.
(at least i’ve got the YSI links now!)
and just while i was discussing about going to Tokyo to catch the LUNA SEA one night reunion concert on Christmas Eve this year.
i really would love to go if there are tickets.
but the money factor is an issue. not that my parents would object, since as mentioned in one of my previous entries, they’re all flying off to some place end of this year.
but i just went to Japan in May.
and much as i declared that i will return there some day with friends to truly explore Tokyo, it’s a hell of a trip to plan.
sigh, i wish i can go. a rare LUNA SEA reunion is as big a motivation as any.
i read until around 1:30am in the morning before i slept.
it really saps my energy in the day. i guess i’m no night owl.
i finished a couple more Barbara Delinsky novels, though i was starting to get a little bored of her stories.
her books are great, but i think i prefer my romance novels with a greater dose of passion which Susan Elizabeth Phillips does so well e.g. in Kiss An Angel.
although even sometimes SEP overdoes it a bit such as between Isabel and Ren in Breathing Room. that one bordered on psychotic. xDDD
anyway, back to Delinsky, i thought the ending of An Irresistable Impulse was much better than Fast Courting’s, though the latter’s summary sounded more interesting. ♥
this morning, my parents bought home vegeterian beehoon and curry (which i love) for breakfast for me and sister, and i was worried i’d have no appetite for lunch, so i ate light.
bumped into Shuqi at Orchard MRT when i went out for lunch with Aur this afternoon.
we went to NYDC which was a safe choice since we didn’t really want to crack our heads open over a simple lunch.
i thought i’d go for cake, but the lasagna sounded tempting.
and it was really good! i love the beef sauce, it was generous and full of flavor.
and the garlic bread was absolute love and were crunchy like biscuits.
we went wandering around the lovely toy store afterward.
and then hit Borders. xDDD
where i succumbed to the temptation of tin carrying cases!
which came from a couple of new stationery ranges there.
i didn’t go for the skull print one in the end because it looked less impressive on second look.
i also wanted to get the set of can badges but i was broke, lol.
at the comics section which i walked by, i was horrified to see books of Calvin & Hobbes strewn carelessly all over the floor so i picked up after that horrid inconsiderate jerk who did that.
i also took the time to check out the price of the Complete Collection i desperately want.
it’s being sold at almost the same price as at Kinokuniya. :3
Haato gelato is something we can’t seem to avoid every time we end up at Wheelock Place.
i had yuzu sorbet again. shiawase (bliss) ~~~
we sat around and talked about random stuff like some Korean drama Aur is now watching since her computer’s temporarily busted. xD
then we wandered to Shaw House, where the sight of the Japanese bakery we used to drop by every Monday before Japanese class at Bunka brings back memories of loads of vacation time in my gap year.
i enjoyed two full months (June-July) of pure worry-free days, so i really shouldn’t be complaining.
but it’s so hard to adjust even mid-way into the semester.
there were many booths selling moon cakes from different places.
the Grand Hyatt one was delightful. they had moon cakes made to the shape of Chinese chess!
which is so ingenious and Aur loved because you can literally ‘eat’ someone else’s ‘chess piece’. ♥
we went to Harris next, which is fast turning into one of my favorite book stores.
we checked out this book which Mint apparently purchased.
the inner layout was gorgeous, an amalgamation of post cards and other random paper like receipts, library borrowing slips.
and was apparently filled with contributions by people about their secrets. o_O
as someone reviewed on Amazon, it’s “a great coffee table book”.
i saw this book by Toni Blake which looked, grins, sizzling.
it’s romance, with some malicious plotting for vengeance, and sounded oh-so-sexy. xD
i checked out her website, and it’s touted as her “latest steamy novel” and “super-sexu”, yay! lol.
anyway, it’s titled Tempt Me Tonight. (oddly, Criss Angel has a copy too, snarks).
there was also this awesome selection of classics. two books for only $16 paired together largely by ‘type’.
and the selection wasn’t bad at all. and the covers were simple clean stock photos.
sorely tempted by Haruki Murakami’s The Wind Up Bird Chronicle/ Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland (which was labelled ‘fantasy’).
and Trainspotting/Oliver Twist; Grimm’s; and also Dostoyevsky’s Crime & Punishment.
Aur and i are thinking of hanging out at book stores again next Saturday.
or maybe hit Arab Street!
she sounds interested to watch Nicole Kidman in The Invasion, but the trailer i caught stank of Tom Cruise’s (zomgbloodycoincidence) War of the Worlds which was rather painful, so i rather not re-live it.
even for the appearance of the apparently sexy Daniel Craig.
speaking of which, i’ve not watched Casino Royale at this time and age. xD
zomg, speaking of movies, i want to shoot myself for missing The Thomas Crown Affair (strangely the name of one of the recent events at my college) which Pierce Brosnan acted in.
but looks like there is an even older movie of that title, so maybe that was a remake.
i want to watch Ghost now too!
a movie Mint has been going on about since long before she left for Canada.
one of the hot topics in film - the Toronto Int’l Film Festival.
some new movies reviewed by the New York Times sound rather interesting: Great World of Sound and Across the Universe.
dinner plans tonight have changed.
Dad’s going off for some high school gathering, and Mom’s tending her stalls at the flea market.
guess Kazzie and i will go drop by at night and help her out. wry grin.
we were sorting out old toys in the morning for her.
looking at my childhood Lego sets made me just miss those days.
but on hindsight, i did had a pretty good time.
i used to be such a Lego fanatic. and i know even until now, there’re plenty of Lego collectors out there.
as it is, everything is collectible. xD
i took some time to check out some other major sell/trade communities on LiveJournal last night and saw some stuff i really like.
including this brand new Wetseal tote which fits what i really want to get to carry my laptop around.
i was thinking of a tote or a canvas sling like the Topshop cloud print shopper sold on straitmooks or something similar to the other ones in that same post.
and this lovely animal print tunic! :O
the spree journals are especially exciting e.g. this.
… this outfit editor looks interesting.
something to read today - ‘The Last Waltz’ by Hari Kunzru in the New York Times.
barrgh, should be studying for midterms.
but maybe i’ll finished Barbara Delinsky’s Rekindled first.
i already feel the beginning of cravings to start on the Linda Howard novel, Sarah’s Child tonight. ♥
